I woke up to the harrowing sound of the winds. The first thing that my half-open eyes inspected was the dust on everything inside the tent. Not much. Good. It worked. Dust blowing inside the tent was really bad the day before, so I had collected rocks about the size of full frame cameras and created a shelter wall going around the tent entrance. I grabbed my gear and the sleeping bag and hopped down the boulder slope to the shore for sunrise. Again, capturing the reflection of Mt. Ritter in the water was out of the question. However, once the peak of the mountain started smoldering like embers, the orange glow spilled over onto the smoothed out lake surface. I was not disappointed.
