JMT DAY 14 - SUNSET AT MTR
Sunset at MTR
While getting the cooking out to prepare for dinner, I caught the light changing above me. Although out campsites were in the middle of the dense forest, it was unmistakable. I looked up and saw the faint glow spreading across the sky. And I knew what that meant. I dropped everything then and fetched my camera and tripod.
My tent was pitched at the end of the forest where a granite monolith sat. With my camera gear, I sprinted up the rock at once and settled at the highest vantage point.
It was happening fast. A rather limited amount of clouds lingering above the far end of the valley that my eyes could see was glowing intensely in yellow, orange and pink. The surface of the granite below my feet was illuminating in pink.
Before the rest of the world got soaked in orange and pink, it was gone. Just like that.
And darkness fell.
Then, I remembered that I was getting hungry.
